Toor Dal || Split Yellow Pigeon Peas
Ingredients:
1 cup toor dal
1 onion
1 serrano pepper
cilantro
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. cumin seeds
1 tsp. ginger garlic paste
Directions
Soak dal in water for 30 minutes. In a pot add water, dal, chili powder, salt, turmeric and ginger garlic paste. Cover and cook on medium heat for 20 minutes. Add cilantro and serrano pepper. Mix and cook for 5 minutes.
In a fraying pan add oil and fry the onion until golden brown. Add cumin seeds and fry for 1-2 minutes. Pour over dal, mix add cilantro and you are done.
Enjoy with rice and salad!
