7 Types of Renewable Energy Solar Solar energy is derived by capturing radiant energy from sunlight and converting it into heat, electricity, or hot water. With the technology to harvest it, there is a limitless supply of solar energy, meaning it could render fossil fuels obsolete. Wind Wind farms capture the energy of wind flow by using turbines and converting it into electricity. Wind energy is a clean energy source, which means that it doesn’t pollute the air like other forms of energy. Wind energy doesn’t produce carbon dioxide, or release any harmful products that can cause environmental degradation or negatively affect human health like smog, acid rain, or other heat-trapping gases. Hydroelectric Water flows through the dam’s turbines to produce electricity, known as pumped-storage hydropower. Hydroelectric power is very versatile and can be generated using both large scale projects, like the Hoover Dam, and small scale projects like underwater turbines and lower dams on small rivers and streams. Geothermal Geothermal heat is heat that is trapped beneath the earth’s crust from the formation of the Earth 4.5 billion years ago and from radioactive decay. Geothermal energy is not as common as other types of renewable energy sources, but it has a significant potential for energy supply. Geothermal energy is naturally replenished and therefore does not run a risk of depleting (on a human timescale). Ocean The ocean can produce two types of energy: thermal and mechanical. Ocean thermal energy relies on warm water surface temperatures to generate energy through a variety of different systems. Ocean mechanical energy uses the ebbs and flows of the tides to generate energy, which is created by the earth’s rotation and gravity from the moon. Unlike other forms of renewable energy, wave energy is predictable and it’s easy to estimate the amount of energy that will be produced. This type of renewable energy is also abundant, the most populated cities tend to be near oceans and harbors, making it easier to harness this energy for the local population. Hydrogen Hydrogen needs to be combined with other elements, such as oxygen to make water as it does not occur naturally as a gas on its own. When hydrogen is separated from another element it can be used for both fuel and electricity. Hydrogen can be used as a clean burning fuel, which leads to less pollution and a cleaner environment. It can also be used for fuel cells which are similar to batteries and can be used for powering an electric motor. Biomass Bioenergy is a renewable energy derived from biomass. Biomass is organic matter that comes from recently living plants and organisms. The use of biomass in energy production creates carbon dioxide that is put into the air, but the regeneration of plants consumes the same amount of carbon dioxide, which is said to create a balanced atmosphere. Biomass can be used in a number of different ways in our daily lives, not only for personal use, but businesses as well. Follow US! @greenleafyman10283 years ago I have theories on how we can improve this renewable and might achieve the efficiency we wanted.
    1. Wireless grid for outer space solar panel
    2. Floating Turbine
    3. Improvised Tesla Turbine for Hydroelectric
    4. Earthquake preventor for Geothermal
    5. Hybrid water turbine that will use salt and the current in the ocean
    6.improvised generator machine for hydrogen
    7. Genetically modified Bamboo that will triple its growth rate for biomass energy.
    8. Machine that captures smoke and turn back to coal again.
    9. Machine that recycles nuclear waste
We already discovered all energy we need, we just need a better technology for sustainability.

@josipfranic70962 years ago 1.Duration of the solar panel is about 20 years. And here we encounter another problem. It takes time to install enough solar panels in the world and to meet energy needs. When this installation process is complete, then it will be necessary to replace those that were initially installed. Which means that the process never ends, but is constantly spinning in a circle.
These plates, which have served their purpose, are thrown away in landfills. Waste from solar panels is 300 times more toxic than nuclear waste and requires special disposal. But since it costs more than production, we decided not to bother too much, so we send used boards to landfills in poor countries. Like most unwanted waste in the world. So much for the way it works under the quotes of developed countries. Today, no country in the world has regulations to dispose of them.

@user-mv5oq5yc8d3 years ago There Is No Shortage of Energy; There Is Shortage of Normalcy
Despite increased production of energy from renewable sources, and despite the slowdown in car manufacturing, oil prices are skyrocketing. Even though fewer power plants still burn coal, coal prices are skyrocketing, as well. Natural gas prices, too, are going through the roof, and energy demand seems to outpace supply in every country and in every form of energy. Have Earth’s energy sources dwindled so drastically in a matter of months? The answer is a resounding “No!” There is no shortage of energy; there is a serious shortage of normalcy in human relations. I hope the current crisis will put some sense into humanity’s insane consumption.
The energy crunch indicates that we are over consuming. We are producing too much, throwing the excess production to the trash, polluting the ground, the air, and the water, and then we are complaining that we do not have enough. It is about as sane as killing one’s parents and then pleading for the court’s mercy because I’ve recently been orphaned.
It is time we reconsider everything we produce—how we divide production, profits, and goods, which services are necessary and which are redundant, and most importantly, how we treat one another. The goal of this process should be clear to everyone: survival.
There is no ulterior motive, no attempt to dominate or deprive anyone of power or wealth. It is simply that reality is forcing us to take all of humanity and the entire planet into consideration. If we don’t, our entire civilization will collapse like a deck of cards.
Since we still do not understand it and insist on running things the way we have always been running them—through power games—I anticipate a very cold and gloomy winter for the northern hemisphere. The energy crunch will leave many in dark and cold houses; there will be no gas for cars, and renewable energy will not replace traditional sources since there will be little sun during the winter. I hope that at least, it will make us rethink our values. If it doesn’t, next summer will be even worse than the awful summer that just ended.
I know that many people are counting on the promise of renewable energy to solve the energy problems of humanity. I think they are mistaken. There is plenty of energy, far more than we really need. We could cut emissions by at least half tomorrow. But the more we have, the hungrier we become, so our thirst for energy will never be satiated, and we will never stop exploiting the planet or each other until we reeducate ourselves and start being humane toward each other.
We have been behaving like spoiled brats whose parents buy them whatever they want. Now, our parents have run out of money and our childhood is over. It is time for us to mature and conduct ourselves like responsible adults, caring for all of humanity the way a mother cares for her entire family. If we think like a family, we will achieve normalcy.

@josipfranic70962 years ago let's look at the downside of hydropower. 65% of the world's largest rivers are blocked by hydroelectric power plants. At the same time, accidents and dam breaks threaten human lives, and the planet’s ecology suffers. Hydropower plants directly affect the Earth's bowels - tons of water from reservoirs press on tectonic plates causing earthquakes, which are therefore caused by man.
The hydropower plant stops the natural flow of organic matter needed for vegetation growth. There is a well-known story: when the Nile River flooded and then receded, it enabled a good crop yield. There is another major environmental impact of hydropower. And that is the change of all watercourses in the area. As soon as the water stops and raises its level, it has a big impact. Since we live in a consumer society, it doesn’t matter what the impact is on the environment and people’s lives, as long as profits are made.
We remain convinced that alternative sources will improve the environment and solve the problem of climate change. Why?

@simonbowman62067 months ago Ok basics solar panels at best 60% cyclable & 15yr life wind well only one place in USA to recycle the blades by shredding them into a concrete mix so still at 60% blades about 20yrs now pump hydro 40% loss as that is 40% more power needed to lift the water than is gained as it falls to the turbines ALL MAKE LESS POWER THAN WAS USED TO MAKE THEM FROM OUT OF THE GROUND TO THE GRID BEING CHARGED The only winner is hydroelectricity at a life of 100plus years and now can be fitted with three banks of turbines & 98% recyclable ...
