Your HDL cholesterol is low on plant-based diet, should you be worried? Does this low hdl increase your risk of a heart attack? I deal with this very common issue in this video. One of the things that happens when you eat more plants is your hdl cholesterol may drop lower than normal. This is usually a cause of anxiety for these folks. It was a cause of anxiety for me too. Should you really be worried that your hdl is low on vegan diet or plant-based whole food way of eating? Under normal circumstances, a low hdl cholesterol raises your risk of a heart attack or stroke. A low hdl cholesterol raises your cardiovascular disease risk. However when eating plant-based or eating vegan diet, your other lipids drop too. Your ldl-cholesterol drops on plant-based eating or on vegan diet. Your triglycerides drop on plant-based eating.
